September 3, 2016 |

The goal of getting a nice and glowing skin is by following a god basic skin care routine religiously. It’s high time that every man should start taking care of their skin.

Here’s all that you need to know about skin care and get the perfect skin:

“Cleansing”

When is it best to cleanse?

Research shows that cleansing before bed helps in looking younger for longer. But:

  1. If you have oily skin cleanse in the morning.
  2. If you have dry skins then cleanse before bed and in the morning only rinse your face with water.

Why is cleansing important?

Using facial scrubs or soaps can prove to be harmful to your skin making it rough, dry and flaky as it takes away all the necessary oil. A cleanser won’t make your skin rough. It will just remove excess oil and dirt from your skin.

Well, here’s a trick to know if the cleanser is harsh or not?

At first, you might feel that you are not comfortable with the skin, it may feel tight. You might also start to witness a lot of blackheads. If the cleanser is high in alkaline than your normal skin balance then it will increase irritation and you’ll tend to have more breakouts.

Dr. Barber’s advice:

  1. Splash cold water after you are done with cleansing, it will close the pores that were open when you were cleansing.
  2. Stop using loofahs or washcloths if you witness irritation or redness. Take the help of your hands to scrub in such case.

“Exfoliation”

When is it best to exfoliate?

  1. If you have dry skin, exfoliate once a week.
  2. If you have oily skin, exfoliation should be done twice a week.

Note- if your skin reacts in a good way to exfoliation, the increase the numbers in a week.

Why is exfoliation important?

Exfoliation is a great way of removing the layer of dead skin cells from the skin. This will reduce the dullness from the skin making it more rich and glowy. It also helps in preventing ingrown hairs while you shave.

Dr. Barber’s advice:

  1. Make sure you wash with cold water after exfoliation is done. So, that you close the pores and prevent them from clogging.

“Moisturizing”

When is it best to moisturize?

Moisturize whenever you clean your face, before bed, in the morning after a shower.

Why is moisturization important?

If you don’t want your skin to be harsh while you touch it, then make sure you moisturize. For soft and supple skin moisturizing is important. When you cleanse all the natural ingredients are laid down from the body, so it’s important to give nourishment back to the skin.

✔Dr. Barber’s advice:

  1. Aim for products which have high humectants ( a skin lotion or a food additive, used to reduce the loss of moisture) usually glycerin then hyaluronic acid and squalane. These are very beneficial for the skin.

Now that you know the importance of a basic skin care routine. Make sure you make it a part of your daily lifestyle.
